DOES HOT SHOT TRUCKING REQUIRE CDL

Although in general to get started in hot shot trucking all that is needed is a Class D license. A class D license is a license that everyone receives when they go to take their driving test when they are younger. Hot shot trucking is great for those who have a class D license as long as the loads they are hauling are under the 10,000-pound weight limit this is the only downside for those getting into the field of doing hot shotting. There are a limited number of loads that can be hauled or shipped and usually the prices to ship these types of loads are far less than ones over 10,000 pounds and hauled by bigger trucks.

Most of those getting into the hot shot trucking industry start with a large truck such as a Dodge Ram, and some are Ford F-350 but the trailers they are using are goosenecks or 5th wheels. These types of trailers are very durable and are used to carry such items as tool sheds, horse trailers, automobiles, equipment for business purposes, and more.

Although, the 10,000-pound limit isn’t the same in all states in some states a person that is to drive commercially with a weight of over 26,000 pounds.
